G\u00f3\u00f0an daginn!  My first week in Iceland went by in the blink of an eye.  I spent my first day on the island in the northernmost capital city in the world, Reykjav\u00edk. As soon as I arrived, I had a heartwarming traditional Icelandic soup to shake off the cold of the region.\u202f<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then, I was ready to explore the charm of the town. The colourful and vibrant municipality had a view of a breathtaking landscape of mountains. I was stunned by the beauty and the majesty of nature in the heart of the city. Like any self-respecting tourist, I had to visit a few of the top sightseeing spots. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

After, I landed in the small eco-village of S\u00f3lheimar where I was introduced to the crew I’ll live with for the first 3 weeks of my immersion. I met some awesome and open-minded people. I’m glad I get to share and learn from each person\u2019s experiences. In our free time, we played charades, we watched an Icelandic movie called \u201cWoman at War\u201d, we went on hikes, we cooked meals inspired by different cuisines and we admired the northern lights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The highlight of my week was undoubtedly the day we spent hiking the geothermal fields of Hverager\u00f0i. We also got to experience the hot spring thermal river of Reykjadalu while enjoying the view down onto the valley. The sunshine brightened the day even more! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Next week, I plan on doing the south coast excursion where I expect to see Seljalandsfoss and Sk\u00f3gafoss, two of Iceland\u2019s most majestic waterfalls and Reynisfjara, the iconic dark-sand beach midway along the southern shoreline. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
