This week I\u00a0couldn\u2019t\u00a0do every activity I had planned. I was able to go to the NWT Diamond centre.\u00a0There,\u00a0I discovered the diamond mining industry in Yellowknife, which is young with the first mine opening in 2008. It also explained the process of mining, polishing,\u00a0and cutting the diamonds. They even sell diamond jewellery, but it is\u00a0very expensive. Unfortunately, I could not book a workshop at Old Town Glasswork because they required at least two people for the activity to take place and I was alone. But I still went and bought a glass as a souvenir.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It has been brought to my attention that I\u00a0haven\u2019t\u00a0talked\u00a0much\u00a0about my volunteering work. On a typical day, I clean kennels, walk dogs,\u00a0and prepare their meals. Cleaning is\u00a0very important\u00a0since some diseases like\u00a0Parvo\u00a0are deadly for\u00a0dogs and spread through poop. So, I am a bit like Cinderella at the beginning of the movie and cleaning behind my stepsisters;\u00a0the dogs.\u00a0Another important task is to walk dogs\u00a0so they can\u00a0spend their energy and\u00a0stay mentally healthy.\u00a0Lately, the shelter has been a bit less crowded, but there are still many dogs in foster care and\u00a0at the\u00a0SPCA.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During my hiking of the week, I saw the snow melting. With the removal of the snow, I discovered new landscapes I have never seen before. But that also meant that all the ice roads are closing, leading some communities\u00a0to be\u00a0more isolated.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
