The last time I took the plane was in 2012 and all I had to do was not to lose track of my parents. However, yesterday, I was on my own to do the longest trip of my life yet! On my first flight, I met Daniele, a sweet Brazilian woman who only spoke Portuguese and a bit of Spanish. Thanks to my Spanish classes and to Daniele who described her favorite trips, my flight was amazing and passed in the blink of an eye.

In Toronto’s huge airport, I received an email telling me that I had a change of gate. I could not find my new gate and, everybody was running around me, and it stressed me out even more when I realised that I could not get to my gate because there was a huge glass door that locked its entrance. It is with relief that I found out that my plane was delayed for an hour, and later, for another one.

At my destination, I was happy to have arrived with all the turbulence during the flight! Bethany, the couple’s daughter, came to pick me up in her white wrangler jeep around midnight and I met the lovely couple with whom I will stay for the next six weeks the next morning.
After dinner, they brought me for a tour of downtown Victoria, which is flourishing! There is no more snow, which helps a lot with the moral. We went on a nice long walk near the Pacific Ocean. There was a cold breeze mixed with the rays of the sun which makes the temperature pleasant.

For now, the next thing I plan to do is getting set up because I was so occupied in discovering that I did not even get the time to settle in!
See you next Sunday!
