My first full week has been one of learning and experiencing. The hostel life this week has allowed me to meet people from Ontario, Colombia, Sydney, New Jersey, and even Egypt. They were all nice, and we exchanged for long hours about our different cultures. I also got to try a few gastronomic discoveries, like lobster and vegetarian pizza; both are a recommendation.
This week I was mostly working and getting to learn the layout of the hostel. I prepared the outdoor balcony and developed friendships with my coworkers, some being from Wales and Germany. Also I got to be a translator for a few French speakers, putting my language skills to the test and helping both parties to understand each other.

I decided to visit a few beaches in the towns neighboring the city. The salty and seaweed smell of the Atlantic shores charmed me with its endless views. Showing its imposing size, it represents the magnificence of the world we live in. Also visited a close friend of mine that I haven’t seen in years. We spent the whole weekend together catching up and creating new memories to cherish. It felt like no time had passed since our last encounter, proving the strength of this cherished friendship.

I found more street arts as well, that add colour to the mundane-looking walls, and creating identity and personality.

Next weekend, Peggy’s Cove is on the list. I can’t wait to see what this week has in store for me at the Hi Heritage House in Halifax. I’ll see you on the other side!
