Entry #2: Hot Sun, Warm Water, and Sneaky Snakes!

English

I started off the week strong and saw the first snake of my trip. I was more fascinated than scared. It is fascinating to discover the diverse fauna of Puerto Rico.

Another task I have at the Rainforest Inn is to cook once a week and this week I prepared Pasta Primavera. It was delicious and it is amazing to discover new vegetarian recipes!

The Pasta Primavera I prepared!

It has been raining more than usual, but Mother Nature gave us a rainbow as a gift during one of our dinners. It was an incredible sight!

Bill, Renee and I have been talking a lot about their experience during the devastating hurricane Maria in 2017. It is informative and interesting to learn about how they recovered from such a catastrophe. Another of my tasks this week was to replace some antique decorative windows that fell off the wall from the hurricane’s strong winds that they haven’t had time to replace until now.

The Anitque Windows I installed

During my day-off, I went to a popular beach in San Juan called Isla Verde. The sun and the sand were hot, the water was warm and clear, the breeze was fresh. It was an amazing moment.

I also walked a little bit through the streets and experienced extreme culture shock involving street crossings. I had to jump into the traffic, hoping they would stop for me: no one was going to stop for me. Scary, but it was worth it seeing the beach after.

Next week, I plan on doing the hike I’ve been wanting to do for weeks now.

Thank you for reading!

Are you afraid of huricannes? It looks like a really fun trip! Your pasta look like really good taste! The beach is incredible and the temperature seems to be very hot. If I could go there, I would do it. Are there a lot of snakes in the sand or are there a lot of dangerous insects to this place?

Great blog! Are there snakes on the beach? Also do they expect to have other hurricanes in the futur months? Well, I hoped that you enjoy it and pass great time there. Also, good luck for the hiking!
