Entry 4: Let the Second Half Begin

English

This week was one of many encounters and self-discovering discussions. Some coworkers and I went to a volunteering act. We spent a morning helping where we could at the Parker Food and Furniture Bank. We helped throw away some furniture to make some space for more useful ones and organized a room full of mattresses to improve their accessibility. It was a fulfilling experience that helped me discover my helpful nature.

The Hostel has given me the opportunity to speak with people from Germany, India and Europe this week, and learned, once again, about each other’s culture and differences. For example, I’ve learned that the gas prices in Germany are around 3 euros per litre, which is the equivalent to about 5 dollars per litre here. I also learned about the Autobaud, where people can pass their drivers licence by being asked to go 230 km/H on it. I also talked a lot about life and relationships with my coworkers throughout the days and expanded my point of view on how I see it myself and how each day should be lived at the fullest and to always tell the people you love that you loved them. You never know when it might be the last time you’ll talk to them. Also, I spoke to and learned from some wise guests whose wisdom could be perceived in their tone and way of speaking, which was an introspective discussion.

Also, this week, I caught up with many friends back home, as many of them asked me for news and were wondering how I was doing. These were heartwarming moments to remind myself where I came from and how far I’ve come. It was also a moment of realisation on the strength of some relationships I developed over the course of my studies at the CÉGEP of Montmagny. To all the friends I met along this journey, love you guys and talk soon.

Next week, I’m looking forward to exploring the gardens of the city as well as doing a proper walkthrough of some streets of the city to find more of the arts embellishing the cityscape. The Titanic cemetery is also on the list. I’m excited to see what Halifax still has in store for me.
