Entry 4: A Day to Remember

We should always appreciate what life has to give us and we should be grateful for what others can do for us.

Tuesday, I went with Kerrianne, the owner, to a celebration that is important for every Australian, Anzac Day. Anzac stands for Australian and New Zealand Army Corp. This celebration is here to honor every soldier and veteran that died during wars and those who still sacrifice their lives today. We had to wake up early, which meant 3.30 in the morning, to have a good seat. The first part, which started at 5 a.m., was the Dawn Service. At that hour, the president of Gympie, the chairman of Gympie Legacy, the veterans, the Navy and Army Cadet, and the nurse were laying wreaths and poppies at the memorial. At 9.30 a.m. it was the March where we could clap for veterans who survived wars, not only World War I and II but also the Korean and Vietnam War.

He seems so young!
The red poppie is for veterans and the purple is for the animals.

It was fascinating to see how many people went to war only in this small town and to imagine how many Australians had participated in the whole country! ?

Later that day we ate homemade sorbet. I had blueberry, mango, and persimmon. It was de-li-cious. It was my first time learning how to make it and it was simpler than I thought. You only need frozen fruits and a sorbet machine, that’s it! You must not forget your cone.

At the end of the day, I just enjoy the sunset tranquil.

Next week, I wish I could visit a part of Australia I never went.
